Natalie Warren Bryant Cancer Center

Receives Prestigious Award

The Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACOS) has granted its 2008 CoC Outstanding Achievement Award to the Natalie Warren Bryant Cancer Center, a part of Saint Francis Health System.  This award is granted only to those programs who illustrate exceptional performance throughout their three-year accreditation period.  A mere nineteen percent of cancer programs surveyed nationwide were given this recognition in 2008.

“Excellence is one of the Saint Francis Health System core values,” said Michele Keeling, executive director of quality, research and oncology at Saint Francis Hospital. “Receiving the CoC Outstanding Achievement Award is reflective of this value and the excellent care our physicians, nurses and technicians provide to Saint Francis cancer patients.”

Established in 2004, the CoC Outstanding Achievement Award is designed to recognize CoC accredited cancer programs who strive for excellence in providing quality care to cancer patients. A facility receives the award following their CoC accreditation on-site evaluation by a physician surveyor.
The American College of Surgeons established the Commission on Cancer in 1922 as a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients through standard-setting, prevention, research, education, and the monitoring of comprehensive quality care. Receiving care at a CoC-accredited cancer program ensures that a patient will have access to the full quality spectrum of comprehensive cancer care close to home.

The Natalie Warren Bryant Cancer Center opened at Saint Francis Hospital in December of 1975.  The center was named for Saint Francis founders Mr. and Mrs. William K. Warren’s second daughter, Natalie, who died at age 49 of breast cancer.  The center uses a multidisciplinary team approach to provide exceptional care for both patient and family.
